Biography[]
Radu Theodoru was born in Ineu, Romania in 1924, and he served as a fighter squadron commander in the communist military and attained the rank of major-general on retirement. He also became involved in literary circles during the 1950s, and he was affiliated with the "realist-socialist" tradition of literature before becoming a far-rightist after the fall of communism. Theodoru supported the legacy of fascist leader Ion Antonescu and became infamous for his anti-Semitic and Holocaust-denying rhetoric. He cofounded the Greater Romania Party and served as its vice-president before being expelled by Corneliu Vadim Tudor. On 5 March 2025, his home was searched as part of a government crackdown on a pro-Russian coup plot; five others were arrested for conspiring to overthrow the Romanian government.
