The Radical Civic Union (UCR) is a centrist and liberal political party in Argentina, founded on 26 June 1891 after a split in the Civic Union of Argentina. The UCR is the oldest active political party in Argentina, and it has stood for free elections, supremacy of civilians over the military, and liberal democratic values, making the UCR the representative party of the middle class. During the 1970s and 1980s, it was a strong advocate for human rights, leading opposition to the military junta. In 2012, it had 2,270,665 members, making it the second-largest Argentinian party.
