Raafat Barsoom was an Egyptian-American physician and Republican political candidate from New Jersey. Born in Egypt to a Christian family, he opened a medical office in Cairo. He fled to the United States with just $200 after receiving death threats from the Muslim Brotherhood, and he became a hot dog vendor in the Journal Square section of Jersey City, New Jersey. He went on to become an emergency and trauma doctor after retraining, and he became a Trumpist Republican. In 2020, he ran for the US House of Representatives in the NJ-07 district, challenging Democratic incumbent Tom Malinowski. His views included support for conservative family values, lowering property and income taxes, taking on the opioid crisis, ending the outsourcing of American jobs, including traditional family values in the education system, working with the US Army to end cross-border illegal drug trafficking, fighting the pharmaceutical companies, federally regulating medication prices, lowering healthcare costs, taking illegal weapons dealers off the streets, and supporting Donald Trump and his agenda.
