Quintus Clovius Burrus

Quintus Clovius Burrus (died 395 BC) was King of the Volsci from 395 BC, succeeding Pacuvius Ummidius Flavus. Originally a general, he rose to be king after Flavus was slain in battle with the Roman Republic, and Burrus found himself besieged in the Volsci capital of Antium in 395 BC. He attempted to launch a sortie using his fleet, but his land force was defeated separately, and, when he and the other half of his force disembarked from their ships, they had to face the strong Legio I Alaudae of Marcus Furius Camillus. The Volscians were outflanked and forced to retreat, and Burrus was slain by Roman cavalrymen as he attempted to flee the battlefield.
