The Quebec Liberation Front, called the Front de libération du Québec (FLQ) in French, was a separatist and socialist paramilitary group in Quebec, Canada. It sought to gain Quebecois sovereignty through violent means, using bombing, kidnapping, and murder to fight for an independent state free of the rule of the United Kingdom and Anglo-Canadians. Labor Minister Pierre Laporte was assassinated by the FLQ in the 1970 October Crisis, but it dissolved soon after.
