Quds Force is an Iranian government institution that serves the purposes of both an intelligence agency and special forces, and Quds Force was a wing of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) paramilitary of Iran. The group was formed in 1980 a year after the Iranian Revolution, and the group was sent outside of Iran's borders to assist its allies in the Lebanese Civil War, Bosnian War, Afghanistan War, Syrian Civil War, and Iraqi Civil War in addition to taking part in internal conflicts such as the war on the PJAK and the insurgents in Sinan and Balochestan Province. Pledging allegiance to the Iranian supreme leader himself, Quds Force has been labelled a supporter of terrorism by the United States from 2007, and it had a strength of 15,000 troops that year.
