Pyrenees

Location of the Pyrenees

The Pyrenees is a mountain range that forms the boundary between France in Western Europe and Spain in the Iberian Peninsula, stretching 305 miles from the Bay of Biscay to the Mediterranean Sea. The Pyrenees have been an important mountain range historically, as it was the limit of Muslim expansion by the end of the 8th century, and Spanish kingdoms such as Navarre and Aragon ruled both sides of the Pyrenees before the range became the official divider between the two major countries of France and Spain.
