The Pulaski Skyway is a bridge-causeway in northeastern New Jersey, travelling between Newark and Jersey City. Jersey City mayor and political boss Frank Hague managed to grease some palms to ensure that he would be given federal money to build the skyway, and it opened to the public in 1932 after years of labor disputes and political issues. The skyway, with only four lanes, is infamous for traffic congestion and its unreliability, and 74,000 cars cross the skyway every day (trucks have been banned since 1934). It is one of North Jersey's most famous landmarks, and it has a great view of New York City across the Hudson River.
