Providence was a shadow cabal consisting of the world's elite and operated by the Partners: three ultrawealthy men and women. Formed in the aftermath of World War II, the cabal mainly consisted of extremely powerful men and women in various positions of importance, such as in corporations, diplomatic organizations, military forces, and prestigious institutions. Through these operatives, Providence secretly controlled the world's affairs for the benefit of the elite. The cabal was dissolved after former ICA agent 47 eliminated key members of the organization.

History[]

Shadow War[]

In 2019, Lucas Grey, a clone and former subject of Providence operative Dr. Otto Wolfgang Ort-Meyer, infiltrated the security staff of Milton-Fitzpatrick CEO and Providence operative Eugene Cobb and assassinated him once he found out Cobb was a Providence member. Grey soon launched a shadow war using a private militia, assassinating various prominent operatives through the ICA by the hands of Agent 47 as well as utilizing the militia to conduct operations.

Though Providence Constant Arthur Edwards managed to hire the ICA after they assassinated Herald Yuki Yamazaki and ICA turncoat Erich Soders, and killed several key militia leaders, Grey managed to turn 47 over to his side after telling him that they were brothers. 47 then killed former Constant Janus, Ark Society leaders Zoe and Sophia Washington, and kidnapped the Constant; this forced the Partners to fake their suicides and go underground.

Dissolution[]

47 and Grey tracked down and assassinated the three Partners before Grey was eventually killed by CICADA mercenaries. 47's handler, Diana Burnwood, infiltrated Providence before poisoning 47 at Don Archibald Yates' farewell party at his vineyard in Mendoza, Argentina. 47 was then captured and handed over to Edwards, who transported 47 to Romania onboard The Mortar train. He then awoke and killed everyone onboard the train before purging Edwards' memory with an amnestic serum. Burnwood then exposed the existence of Providence, forcing all of its operatives to resign from their company positions and Providence to dissolve.
