Prince Arslan Argun of Seljuk Sultanate (1060-) was a son of Alp Arslan and the half-brother of Malik Shah. On 13 August 1079 he was appointed Chief Qadi of the Seljuk Empire.
Biography[]
Arslan Argun was born in 1060 to Alp Arslan and an unknown wife. He was the half-brother of Malik Shah and Bey Tutush of Yazd. Arslan was a Sunni Muslim Turk who wanted a title, and in 1079 he asked his brother Malik Shah for a title. Arslan Argun had no opinion about his brother, while the other half-brothers of Malik Shah were typically hostile. At the suggestion of Malik Shah's wife Sultana Ceylan of Great Seljuk, he was made Chief Qadi on 13 August 1079, taking care of all legal matters. He was also appointed Designated Regent, increasing his favor of his brother. Malik Shah gained Bey Ali of Al Jazira's permission to marry Arslan Argun to Gulnaz, one of his courtiers. On 11 May, a son named Suleyman was born to him.
