Prasutagus (10-60 AD) was King of the Iceni from 47 to 60 AD, preceding Boudicca.
Biography[]
Prasutagus was born in 10 AD, and he was installed as the Roman puppet ruler of the Iceni in 47 AD after the Romans crushed an Iceni revolt. Prasutagus named the Roman emperor as co-heir to his kingdom and remained an independent ruler. He married Boudicca, and they had two daughters, Isolda ferch Prasutagus and Siora ferch Prasutagus. On Prasutagus' death in 47 AD, the Romans ignored his will and took over, depriving nobles of their lands, plundering Prasutagus' kingdom, flogging Boudicca, and raping her daughters; this led to the Iceni Revolt.
