Port Morris

Port Morris is an industrial neighborhood of The Bronx, New York City, with a population of 3,523 in 2011 (mostly African-Americans and Puerto Ricans). Half of the population lives below the poverty line and receives Medicaid and public assistance, and a wave of arson in the 1970s led to much of the area burning down. During the 2000s, Port Morris was revitalized when abandoned warehouses were transformed into lofts, and upscale eateries began to develop in Port Morris.
