The Popular Resistance Committees is a splintergroup of Fatah that was founded in 2000 by Jamal Abu Samhadana. The group was based out of the Gaza Strip, from which its al-Nasser Salah al-Deen Brigades carried out terrorist attacks against Israel; most of its attacks involved attacking military and civilian convoys with roadside and vehicle bombs. The group left Fatah due to its opposition to peace with Israel, and the PRC was the third-most-powerful terrorist group in the Gaza Strip after Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Iran and Hezbollah provided the PRC with revenue, and the PRC would combine Islamic fundamentalism with Palestinian nationalism.
