Pope Victor III (1026-16 September 1087), born Dauferio, was Pope from 1086 to 1087, succeeding Pope Gregory VII and preceding Pope Urban II.
Biography[]
Dauferio was born in 1026, and he was originally the Abbot of Monte Cassino. His failing health made him relucant to become pope when he was elected in 1086, and he died of sickness in 1087.
