Pope Callixtus II (15 January 1068-21 June 1104) was Pope from 30 July 1100 to 21 June 1104, succeeding Pope Urban II and preceding Pope Lucius II.
Biography[]
Leonardo was born on 15 January 1068 to the House of Dandolo, a dynasty of Catholic Italians. His family was a major dynasty in Italy, and he was heir to Tusculum, Tivoli, and Pitigliano. On 30 July 1100 he was acclaimed as the new pope after the death of Pope Urban II. Callixtus reigned for four years, and he died on 21 June 1104. Cardinal Ezio of Nice succeeded him as "Lucius II".
