
Polites (died 1181 BC) was an Ithacan Greek warrior in the service of Odysseus during the Trojan War and the Odyssey. Polites was known to be a giant and stubborn man who was among Odysseus' closest friends, and, during the Odyssey, he persuaded Odysseus to leave Circe. However, he was killed by Scylla during Odysseus' voyage home.
