Plausawa

Plausawa (1745-1786) was a war chief of the Huron-Wyandot tribe.

Biography[]

Born in 1745, Plausawa was a warrior of the Huron-Wyandot who rose to become a war leader during the American Revolutionary War. He led Huron tribesmen in their wars with the Iroquois Confederacy and in 1783 he led the capture of the Iroquois village of Fallen Timbers. He then led Huron warriors to the border of the Iroquois Territory, but the Americans and British took turns taking it over. Plausawa was assassinated by Goyathlay, an Iroquois scout, in winter of 1786.
