Placus Maximius Veranius (69 BC-) was a Roman Army legionary who served in Octavian's Legio III Gemina during the civil wars of the Second Triumvirate. Enlisted in Rome, Latium during the early 40s BC, he first fought at the Siege of Syracuse in 40 BC, wresting the city from Sextus Pompey's Optimates amid the Sicilian Revolt.
