Place de la Bastille 2022

The Place de la Bastille is a square in Paris, France where the infamous Bastille prison once stood. The Bastille prison was built from 1370 to 1383 and demolished from 14 July 1789 to 14 July 1790 following the Storming of the Bastille at the start of the French Revolution, and, from 1835 to 1840, the "July Column" was erected by King Louis Philippe I to commemorate the overthrow of the absolutist Bourbons in the July Revolution of 1830. The Place de la Bastille is now home to an opera house, the Boulevard de la Bastille, and a large open-air market.
