Pike's Basin is a canyon in Reeves County, Texas which was a prominent criminal hideout during the Wild West. It was originally home to a mixed-ethnicity gang, the Basin Gang, which was wiped out in an 1898 shootout with the Arizona Kid, Cal Hemsworth, Matt Channing, and Dusty Sands after they were sent by Blackwater police chief Oswald Dunbar to apprehend their leader, Kyle Loach. By 1911, the Bollard Twins and a couple of Mexican cattle rustlers had established a base at Pike's Basin, and, despite US Marshal Leigh Johnson's efforts to wipe out the gang in 1911, it was still a Bollard Twins base by 1914.
