Peter di Campofregoso (1330-22 April 1404), better known as Pietro Fregoso, was the Doge of the Republic of Genoa from 15 to 16 July 1393, succeeding Antoniotto Montaldo and preceding Clemente Promontorio. In 1373, he led the Genoese conquest of the Kingdom of Cyprus, and he served as Doge for just one day.
Biography[]
Pietro Fregoso was born in 1330, the son of Rolando Campofregoso and Manfredina and the brother of Doge Domenico di Campofregoso (r. 1370-1378). Fregoso joined his family's Asian trade business, and in 1373 he became an admiral of the Republic of Genoa, leading the invasion of Cyprus. He was given a palace in the city of Genoa after his victory against King Peter II of Cyprus, and in 1393 he was elected Doge. Freogoso was Doge for only one day before he ceded power to Clemente Promontorio, and he was a councillor until his death in 1404.
