Biography[]

Pietro De Luca became a Cardinal of the Catholic Church in Rome, and he was a Cardinal during the papacy of Pope Alexander VI (1492-1503). In 1498, Cardinal Ascanio Sforza was tasked with beginning an inquisition into the sins of all of the cardinals, figuring out who was loyal to the Borgia Pope or not. Sforza sought to make a cardinal take the blame for a failed assassination plot against the Borgia family by Caterina Sforza and her agent Rufio, and Sforza had De Luca tortured for refusing to take the blame for the crime.
