Peter Quasdanovich

Peter Vitus von Quosdanovich (12 June 1738-13 August 1802), also known as Peter Quasdanovich, was a Field Marshal of the Holy Roman Empire during the French Revolutionary Wars.

Biography[]

Petar Vid Gvozdanovic was born in Sichelberg, Dalmatia, Holy Roman Empire (now Zumberak, Croatia) on 12 June 1738 to a family of Catholic Croats, and he entered the army in 1752. He served in a regiment of hussars during the Seven Years' War and the War of the Bavarian Succession, and he became a Major-General after fighting against the Ottoman Empire. Quosdanovich would rise from a brigade commander to a corps commander during the French Revolutionary Wars, fighting at Fleurus, Bassano, and Arcole. After a final defeat at Rivoli in 1797, Quosdanovich decided to retire from the army, and he died in Vienna in 1802.
