Peter Farmer Wanser (24 January 1849-3 January 1918) was Mayor of Jersey City from 2 May 1892 to 2 May 1897, succeeding Orestes Cleveland and preceding Edward Hoos.

Biography[]

Peter Farmer Wanser was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey in 1849, and he served in the General Assembly from 1882 to 1883 as a Republican. In 1885, he became a political judge in Jersey City, and he went on to serve as Mayor from 1892 to 1897. He was elected as a reform mayor, and he had to worry about the water supply conditions of his city. From 1898 to 1902, he served as Postmaster of Jersey City, and he died in 1918.
