Perun was the Slavic god of the weather, thunder, rain, fire, agriculture, war and the living world, as well as the head of the Slavic pantheon. Described as a warrior, he resided on the top of a cosmic world tree, from which he would descend, either to interact with the world of the humans or fight with Veles, the god of the underworld.
Historically, Perun, alongside Khors, Dazhbog, Stribog, Semargl, and Mokosh, was one of the Slavic gods revered by Vladimir the Great of Kiev. Following his conversion to Christianity, Vladimir the Great banned the worship of all pagan deities, and all cult images, including that of Perun, were pulled down, beaten with stick and thrown into the rivers.
Perun had a warrior lodge called The Champions of Perun, which gave to the worthy the Axe of Perun, one of his most treasured artifacts.
