Perla's Nightclub, briefly known as Doucet's Place during the Dixie Mafia ownership, is an elegant theater and music hall located in Algiers, New Orleans, Louisiana. It was built by Black Mob leader and philanthropist Sammy Robinson for his wife, Perla. With hard work, Perla's became known as the beating heart of New Orleans' black culture in the 1950s and 60s; when Perla herself died in 1961, Sammy took direct control of the nightclub.
After Sammy was murdered by Don Sal Marcano in 1968, Perla's was turned over to Dixie Mafia leader Ritchie Doucet, who renamed it Doucet's Place. Doucet then turned the once elegant club into a brothel catering exclusively to white racists, with kidnapped and drugged black women serving as prostitutes under the supervision of Merle Jackson. This was brought to an end in 1969 by Lincoln Clay, the adopted son of Sammy Robinson and ex-Green Beret. Perla's was then turned over to the ownership of the Haitian Mob, who brought Perla's back to its glory days.
