Biography[]
Peneleos was born in Megara, Megaris, and he was known to have been able to remember every drachma he had spent. He feared spending so that there were few purchases to remember, although it was also said that he had a good memory. In 431 BC, he was installed as the Athenian puppet ruler of Megara after the assassination of the Spartan puppet Tisandros, and he was assassinated at his palace by the Spartan mercenary Kassandra, who shot him in the head with an arrow.
