
Peleg Tallman (24 July 1764 – 12 March 1840) was a member of the US House of Representatives (DR-MA 16) from 4 March 1811 to 3 March 1813, succeeding Orchard Cook and preceding Samuel Davis.
Biography[]
Peleg Tallman was born in Tiverton, Rhode Island in 1764, and he served in the American Revolutionary War and lost an arm in 1780. He became a merchant in Bath, Massachusetts and served as overseer of Bowdoin College from 1802 to 1840, a member of the US House of Representatives from 1811 to 1813, and a member of the State Senate. During his tenure, he was more conservative than 98% of his fellow Democratic-Republicans and 81% of the 12th House.
