Peace Finance

Peace Finance was a Japanese credit company based in Kabukicho, Tokyo during the 1990s. It was founded by Kojiro Hirata, and the company acquired a reputation as back-alley loan sharks who were more brutal to their debtors than even the yakuza were. Hirata himself was notorious for taking out large loans himself and not being able to pay the interest alone, and, on 30 September 1995, Dojima-gumi yakuza Kazuma Kiryu and Shinji Tanaka broke into the Peace Finance offices and retook the company's ¥200 million in loans by force. This incident destroyed Peace Finance's credibility, leading to Hirata being forced into vagrancy as his company closed down.
