Paul T. Jordan

Paul T. Jordan (1941-) was Mayor of Jersey City from 9 November 1971 to 30 June 1977, succeeding Charles K. Krieger and preceding Thomas F.X. Smith.

Biography[]

Paul T. Jordan ran a drug rehabilitation center in Jersey City before being elected Mayor in 1971, serving as a Democrat. He was supported by young voters, as he heralded an end to machine control of city politics, and he proposed a major redevelopment of the waterfront. After losing the mayoral election in 1977, he also resigned from the gubernatorial primary.
