Paul Rogers

Paul Grant Rogers (4 June 1921-13 October 2008) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-FL 6) from 3 January 1955 to 3 January 1967 (succeeding Dwight L. Rogers and preceding Sam M. Gibbons), from FL-9 from 6 January 1967 to 3 January 1973 (succeeding Don Fuqua and preceding Louis Frey Jr.), and from FL-11 from 3 January 1973 to 3 January 1979 (succeeding Claude Pepper and preceding Daniel A. Mica).

Biography[]

Paul Rogers was born Ocilla, Georgia from 1921, the son of Dwight L. Rogers, and he attended the University of Florida before serving in the US Army during World War II and rising to the rank of Major. In 1955, he was elected to succeed his father in the US House of Representatives from a district including Palm Beach, and he served from 1955 to 1979 and opposed desegregation and the Civil Rights movement. He practiced law in Washington DC until his death in 2008.
