Paul Betz

Paul Betz (10 July 1895 – 9 May 1944) was a Major-General of the Wehrmacht of Nazi Germany during World War II.

Biography[]

Paul Betz was born on 10 July 1895 in Hamburg, German Empire and gained the Iron Cross and Wound Badge while serving in the Reichswehr during World War I. He served with the Wehrmacht during their annexation of Austria and the Sudetenland, and won the Iron Cross again in 1939. Betz rose to the rank of Major-General after fighting in North Africa and in the Soviet Union during World War II, and Betz was killed in the Siege of Sevastopol on 9 May 1944 in the Crimean Offensive.
