Paul Begala

Paul Begala (12 May 1961-) was a Democratic strategist and political commentator. He served as Counselor to the President under Bill Clinton from 17 August 1997 to 10 March 1999, succeeding Bill Curry and preceding Ann Lewis.

Biography[]

Paul Begala was born in New Jersey in 1961, and he became a consultant after graduating from UT Austin. In 1992, he and James Carville helped Bill Clinton's successful presidential campaign as his chief strategists, and he then served as Clinton's counselor and coordinated politics, policy, and communications. He and Carville became business partners as consultants, and he co-hosted Equal Time on MSNBC from 1999 to 2000 and Crossfire on CNN from 2002 to 2005, and he then became a CNN political commentator.
