
Patrisse Cullors (born 1984) was one of the founders of the Black Lives Matter movement in the United States.
Biography[]
Patrisse Cullors was born in 1984 in Los Angeles, California to a family of African-Americans; at age 16, she came out as gay to her parents and was forced out of her home. She had a degree in religion and philosophy from UCLA, and she was initially involved with Jehovah's Witnesses before developing an interest in the Ifa native religion of Nigeria. Cullors later joined the Black Lives Matter movement, and she was one of the leaders of the organization.
