Patrick Toole was a British Army soldier who served in Gale's Regiment of Foot during the Seven Years' War. In 1759, he mocked the recent recruit Redmond Barry for refusing to drink out of a greasy cup, resulting in Barry insulting him back and picking a fight. In the ensuing organized fistfight, Barry defeated Toole before the rest of the regiment.
