Patrick Murphy (Florida politician)

Patrick Murphy (30 March 1983-) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-FL 18) from 3 January 2013 to 3 January 2017, succeeding Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and preceding Brian Mast.

Biography[]

Patrick Murphy was born in Miami, Florida on 30 March 1983, and he worked for his family's construction business and then as an assistant project engineer, as an auditor in Miami, a practicing CPA, and as vice-president and a director of Coastal Environmental. In 2011, Murphy switched his party affiliation from the Republican Party to the Democratic Party, and he was elected to the US House of Representatives in 2012. He served until 2017, and he failed in his 2016 bid to defeat Marco Rubio during the US Senate election.
