Paseny was an Egyptian general in the service of the future Pharaoh Ramesses III during the Late Bronze Age.
Biography[]
Paseny was born in Ancient Egypt to a Nubian family. After rising in the ranks of the Egyptian army, he was appointed a subordinate to Pharaoh Merneptah's Governor of the Sinai, Prince Ramesses, son of Setnakhte. Paseny was given command of an army sent to conquer the Canaanite city-state of Timna in 1204 BC, and he conquered Timna and the Beersheban stronghold of Hathor. When Ramesses heard an erroneous report of Pharaoh Merneptah's death in 1203 BC, Paseny aided Ramesses in his bid for power, taking part in the fight against Mennefer's armies and conquering Buto in 1200 BC.
