The Party for Freedom (PVV) is a major Dutch nationalist and far-right political party in the Netherlands, founded on 22 February 2006. The party is known for its right-wing populism, its strong opposition to the European Union, and its strong criticism of Islam, and it once partnered with the liberal-conservative People's Party for Freedom and Democracy due to their shared conservative views. However, the alliance ended in 2012 as the result of differing views on budget cuts, and the PVV enjoyed increasing popularity after the start of the European migrant crisis and the election of other far-right leaders such as Norbert Hofer and Donald Trump.
