Parsons Preston was a buccaneer during the Anglo Spanish War of 1654-1660.
Biography[]
Parsons Preston was born in Hispaniola to a family of slaves, and he escaped from slavery at the age of eleven. Preston joined a crew of pirates and made his way to Port Morgan in 1654, where England hired him and several other pirates to act as buccaneers. Preston took part in the sacking of the French settlement of Saint-Estephe, the Dutch settlement of Nieuw Kapelle, and the Spanish settlement of Alocen that year, reaping the spoils of war after burning the towns to the ground.
