Paramus is a borough of Bergen County, New Jersey, incorporated on 2 March 1922. The town's name comes from the Lenape toponym "Peremessing", meaning "land of turkey", and it became one of the largest shopping destinations in the United States. Paramus had strong labor laws, ensuring that almost all businesses were closed on Sundays. In 2010, the borough had a population of 26,342 people, with 72.29% being white, 22.28% Asian, 2.47% multiracial, 1.42% African-American, 1.39% other races, .11% Native American, and .05% Pacific islander.
