Panzer Lehr

The Panzer Lehr Division was a panzer division of Nazi Germany formed in November 1943 during World War II. It was named "Lehr" ("teach") due to the fact that most of its members were training and demonstration troops of the Wehrmacht, and most of Germany's tank commanders and instructors were attached to the unit. As a result of this, its losses in battle were all disadvantages towards Nazi Germany's military leadership, and the Falaise Pocket left almost all of their armor destroyed. Its 15,000 soldiers ended the war in the Ruhr Pocket on 15 April 1945 when they surrendered to the US 99th Infantry Division.
