The Panau Broadcast Center attack occurred in 2010 when the undercover CIA agent Rico Rodriguez destroyed the antenna atop the Panau Broadcast Center after helping the communist Reapers broadcast their own propaganda message from the tower.
Eager to put a stop to President Pandak Panay's propaganda broadcasts and spread her own propaganda, the leader of the Reapers gang, Bolo Santosi, hired the mercenary and undercover CIA agent Rico Rodriguez to transmit an illegal "pirate broadcast" of the beating, torture, and execution of an innocent political prisoner. Rodriguez rappelled up the Panau Broadcast Center in Bandar Baru Nipah before aligning the tower's four satellite dishes to receive the pirate broadcast signal; along the way, he fought off Panauan Army soldiers and autoturrets. After Rodriguez aligned the dishes, Santosi broadcast her propaganda message and then had Rodriguez destroy the antenna to prevent Panay from continuing to use it. In response to the pirate broadcast, Panau News played soothing pop music to restore calm.
