Panagiotakis Loris

Panagiotakis Loris (456 BC-) was an Athenian fisherman who, in 431 BC, took part in an assassination attempt on politician and Pericles' ally Metiochos at his home. Motivated by the populist rhetoric of Cleon to take back the city from the wealthy, the fishermen (led by Pratinos) attempted to kill Metiochos by using poisoned snakes, but the mercenary Kassandra confronted them in the Fishing District and persuaded them to instead focus on making change where they could in their own district.
