Paisi Kaysarov

Paisi Kaysarov (23 May 1783-27 February 1844) was a Russian general during the Napoleonic Wars.

Biography[]

Paisi Kaysarov was born in Morshansky Uyezd, Tambov Governorate, Russian Empire in 1783. He joined the Imperial Russian Army's Preobrazhensky Life Guards Regiment in 1791 and was wounded at the 1805 Battle of Austerlitz before becoming a lieutenant in the Semyonovsky Life Guards Regiment and fighting against the Ottoman Turks on the Danube in 1806. Kaysarov was promoted to colonel in 1811 and served as General Mikhail Kutuzov's adjutant during the French invasion of Russia, including at the Battle of Borodino. From October 1812, he commanded the vanguard of Matvei Platov's Don Cossacks, and he was promoted to Major-General lin March 1813 and led cavalry forces at the Battle of Hanau and the Battle of Arcis-sur-Aube. After the war, he remained in the military and became a lieutenant-general in 1826. In 1831, he suppressed the Polish November Uprising, and he retired in 1842. He died in 1844.
