The Pacification of Ghent was a treaty signed by the rebellious provinces of the Spanish Netherlands on 8 November 1576, ending the war between Holland and Zeeland and uniting the Protestant Dutch provinces against Spain during the Dutch Revolt. The Dutch formed the United Provinces, a union of seven provinces opposed to Spain's rule over Flanders, uniting under the Union of Utrecht in 1579.
