Oudin Touchet

Oudin Touchet (1068-) was a nobleman of the Kingdom of France.

Biography[]

Oudin Touchet was a handsome and generally loyal man of noble birth, and was a promising commander and confident defender. Touchet was adopted by Prince Louis, the heir apparent to the Kingdom of France, in 1098 due to his potential. In 1130, near the end of his life, he was dispatched to take the city of Bruges (Brugge) in Flanders from Andry of Bruges, a task that he carried out succesfully. He captured the city, which was at that time also desired by the Holy Roman Empire (who had actually unsuccessfully besieged the city a couple of years before) and incorporated the County of Flanders into France.
