Biography[]
Otari Kvantrishvili was a famous wrestler in the Soviet Union during the 1960s, but a 1966 conviction for rape ruined his dreams of becoming a world champion. During the 1980s, he became involved with racketeering as a Georgian Mafia member, opening the Dynamo Sports Club and the 21st Century Association as fronts. Kvantrishvili became the face of the Mafia during the early 1990s, mediating between the Russian Mafia, Chechen Mafia, and the Georgians. In 1993, he announced that he was entering politics, but he was shot dead by a Russian sniper on 5 April 1994 while leaving a bath house.
