Biography[]
Ossie Mejia was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, and he served in the Jalisco state police during the 1980s. He met DEA agent Walt Breslin in 1986, and he decided to take part in Operation Leyenda in exchange for cash and a work visa for his uncle. Mejia was one of a select few Mexican mercenaries hired to help the DEA, and he took part in the capture of Sergio Verdin in 1986. In 1988, he was mortally wounded during the Chiapas airfield ambush, so he drove his vehicle into a gas tank to kill several Guadalajara Cartel gunmen. However, the United States government saw him as a criminal and refused to grant his uncle a visa, despite Mejia's sacrifice.
