Osgar Sword-Cloven

Osgar Sword-Cloven (died 877) was an Order of the Ancients zealot who was active in 9th-century Lincolnshire, England. The thin and duplicitous Osgar came from a family of vintners; he liked a tipple after a good stabbing. Havelok "the Billhook" relied on Osgar to implement his schemes. In 877, he was ambushed by the Viking warrior Eivor Wolf-Kissed on the road southwest of Whisby and mortally wounded, and, in his last words, he told Eivor that he wished he had been a drengr. He was the last of the Order's Zealots to be hunted down and killed by Eivor.
