Biography[]
Oscar Alberto Perez was born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1981, and he served as a police investigator and helicopter pilot for 20 years before becoming an actor in 2015. On 27 June 2017, he appeared in a video in which he declared himself and a few masked men to be in rebellion against Nicolas Maduro's government, and he piloted a helicopter that attacked the Supreme Tribunal of Justice in Caracas hours after the video was released. Nobody was killed or injured, but the point was clear: Perez and his followers had openly rebelled against the government. Perez would appear in several more videos, as well as at protests; on 18 December 2017, he stole 26 rifles and 3 automatic pistols from the National Guard in Los Teques, Miranda State, gagging and tying up the National Guardsmen. On 15 January 2018, he was tracked down to the western Caracas neighborhood of El Junquito, and he posted a video on the Internet with his face covered in blood, saying that the police had continued shooting at his group even after they attempted to surrender. Perez and his men were killed after a three-hour shootout.
